Translation

We translate the documents we write or any other text our clients might want translated. Trabajamos con los principales idiomas europeos y asiáticos, aunque gracias a nuestra red de colaboradores también podemos encargarnos de cualquier otro idioma. Todas nuestras traducciones se revisan por lo menos dos veces.

We are aware of our clients' needs and have the tools to provide the right solutions. We use only native translators of the languages into which a text is translated. As an aid to the work carried out by our translators, we benefit from the latest computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools. They enable us to keep a database with all translations we have ever done for each client. With this, we are able to ensure:

  • Consistency in the terminology (further aided by the use of glossaries).
  • Consistency in the style.
  • Consistency in the translation (if a previously translated sentence comes up again, it will be translated the same way).

The members of our team first started working in the translation industry in the year 2000. Our combined experience is as translators, reviewers and project managers.

Proofreading and quality control

Further to the internal quality control we offer for both our translation and copywriting services, we also carry out the correction of any other texts. During this process, we try to improve a text based on the same criteria we use in our translations. In addition, we correct all sorts of spelling, lexical and syntactical mistakes.

There are times when it is especially convenient to have a text corrected: for instance, before it is sent for publication or distribution. A poorly-written text reflects on the company; it is worthwhile to invest resources in improving it. It is also very useful to correct a text before it is sent out for translation, as it is the best time to undo potential ambiguities and shed light on anything that might baffle the translator.

Our correction team is made up of professional linguists and translators with excellent knowledge of the languages they correct.

     

Copywriting

Our copywriting service is suitable both for companies and freelancers. Sometimes companies without a marketing or communications department find themselves in need of someone to write out their internal documents. Also they might need to write the content of leaflets, web pages, specialised articles, catalogues and other types of documents for an external readership. INGRAFIA can copywrite any sort of text and gives every assurance that the best linguistic skills will be put to use.

Our clients might provide guidelines and information on what they want us to write about, or might prefer us to carry out our own research on the proposed subject (our information sources are internet, books and press in general). Whichever way, the service we provide is based on the strictest linguistic criteria:

Initially, we draw up a clear scheme of the ideas we want to present.

We present these ideas in a sequential and logical manner, using both the linguistic and pragmatic elements of a cohesive discourse.

We try to avoid linguistic and semantic ambiguities.

We use the suitable register. When choosing the register of the text, we pose ourselves some questions: does the reader need to be addressed and, if so, how? Should we opt for a formal or informal style? What terminology matches the chosen style? Are there any formal rules on the structure of that specific piece of writing?

The research and writing phases are carried out by professional linguists who have excellent knowledge of Catalan, Spanish and Brasilian Portuguese, the three languages which this service is currently available in.

     

DTP and Design

In the layout and design phase we weave our technical knowledge into the creative process. We have years of experience behind our back in the use of the most common tools in the industry, such as Quark Xpress and Adobe's InDesign, Freehand, Framemaker, Photoshop and Illustrator programmes. It is a creative process during which a unique style (colour, shapes, logos) is created for each client. That style then filters onto all of the client's documents.

We know that creating a style is something very personal and so, we are in contact with the client at every step of the design process. We welcome their comments and incorporate them at each phase.

In addition to creating original designs, we also adapt existing ones. A client might need to re-edit a document which they only have on paper. Perhaps they need to update some of the information benefiting, at the same time, from a quick brush up for a more modern look. Or even to reproduce the company's style on a new type of document.

We lay out all sorts of documents, including catalogues, leaflets (any number of pages), technical datasheets, business cards, reports and many others. We also create PowerPoint presentations. The final files are delivered as high resolution PDFs, which allows for them to be taken directly to the printer's.
